My Donation
Most of us have seen images of Japan on TV, in newspapers and on the internet and looked on in disbelief at the the devastation the planet can inflict on itself.
You don’t need me to tell you that there is now a massive humanitarian crisis escalating every day as thousands of affected families move away from the worst affected areas to shelters in the north-eastern parts of Japan.
These evacuees are currently experiencing freezing temperatures, starvation, lack of clean water and possibly disease as conditions worsen.
Whilst Japan is a wealthy nation, it has been hit by an event, at arguably an unprecedented level, that very few nations in the world could manage without assistance.
As always, in times of disaster, the single most important thing that affected areas need is for the charities to receive funding which is why I have decided to donate 100% of the advertising revenue generated for 11 days on this site between 20th March and 31st March 2011.
Normally the revenue that this site generates goes straight back into the increasing running costs of the site so essentially I will be covering those costs whilst the revenue will go to Japan.
This will be donated via Google Crisis Response Center and will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
What Can You Do?
Firstly – BE CAREFUL OF SCAMS – unfortunately there are many, many scam artists operating as usual on the internet to make a quick buck out of the misfortune of others. You can avoid these if you stick to the main charities as listed here.
- Donating Directly – below I’ve listed a few ways that you can donate money directly to Japan
- Apple iTunes – Apple have set up a special donation page here. This will open your iTunes automatically.
- Google Crisis Response Center using your credit card on Google Checkout.

- Sharing – If you cannot donate money directly then why not just share this message. An increase in traffic to this page will have an impact on the advertising revenue that will go to Japan.
